Q: Is giving you the Model number of my Simpson essential?
A: No it isn’t, if you don’t have it handy - say you are at work and someone has called from home and said the fridge has broken down. We will still be able to help, but a bit like when you get your car fixed - it certainly is much simpler if they have to order parts when the exact year and full details and options of the car are known. The Model number can tell us a great deal about what the problem might be and assists us to effectively and speedily isolate the problem and also have the right parts available if they are needed.

Q: Why is the power to the fridge cutting out when I plug it in?
A: It appears there is a problem with your fridge, especially if this is not occurring with other appliances. If your fridge is “Frost Free” then this is a fairly common issue that can be addressed.

Q: I seem to have another problem with my Simpson after it was serviced. What is it best to do?
A: If you are not sure, take a note of what you observe and write it down then give us a call. As you know your appliance and how it normally performs, subtle changes you may notice can be very helpful in locating an obscure fault.

Q: What should I do when I notice a bit of water on the floor that seems to have run out of the fridge - I haven’t had this before; is this a serious issue?
A: It can be in that part of the workings of your fridge include a drainage system. Once this is blocked, efficiency is impaired. Best to call at your convenience than wait till the fridge ceases to operate and you may have a problem with food spoilage.

Q: I have an older Simpson, can you repair it?
A: Most likely we can and at a fraction of the cost of a new appliance. When you repair your older fridge this can be a better decision for the environment as well as your wallet with it giving years more of service instead of ending up in land-fill prematurely!

Q: My fridge seems to be running warmer that usual and I am not sure if something is wrong. How can I tell?
A: For the fridge: +0.5C to +4.5C should be fine; the freezer should be around -15C to –21C . If it does not seem correct, or if you have had something spoil, (such as ice-cream), then place a service call to us promptly.

Q: Is re-gassing something needed?
A: No. Only if you had had a leak of the gas that is part of the refrigeration system would you need to get a re-gas.
